The Lightning Bosch Performance Line CX Smart, is the newest addition to the Orbit electric assist range. Built using a lightweight aluminium frame, the tandem uses the Bosch Perfomance Line CX 250W motor and comes with a 545wh battery. 250wh Powermore £450 extra 800wh instead of the 545wh battery £250 extra, add a Powermore for £450 to give 1,050wh. Adding a Powermore turns the single battery system into a twin battery system Battery weighs 2.9kg, and takes 4.9 hours for a full charge, however, it is 50% charged after the initial 1.8 hours. Range of course depends upon rider weight, wind, tyre selection & altitude gain, but it can be as much as 70 miles per charge. The 250W motor is the highest output system that is road legal in the UK, giving up to 85Nm of torque. This type of electric assist is called a mid-drive system, the engine runs through the gears, and correct use of the gears when climbing make the system really efficient, and allows a light weight motor to be used whilst still giving out a great amount of torque, which is needed for pedalling up the hills. Test ride model available. The Velocity E6100 is designed and built in the Yorkshire Dales using Shimano's E6100 mid-drive motor and is perfectly suited to the hills. The low gearing will take you up the steepest of climbs and the 3 brakes will take you down the steepest of descents with confidence. The Velocity can take plenty of luggage with the front fork being rack compatible too, and it's 48 spoke wheels make it a great touring machine. The Velocity is assembled for each customer so we can customise it to suit you exactly, drop handlebars are an option on the front as well. The Velocity Kiddy has the back set up to accommodate children from a young age, hence it's name. As your youngster grows simply raise the saddle and when they no longer need the kiddy housing the cranks have pedal holes at 115mm and 140mm.
